Concentrated competence for cardiovascular procedures at ICI meeting in Tel Aviv

The list of sponsors, exhibitors and speakers reads like a “who’s who" of the leading companies and heads from the field of cardiovascular surgery in the medical sector.

Together with about 120 other exhibitors, Klingel medical metal was once again represented at the ICI meeting in Tel Aviv. On 9 and 10 December, key account manager Murat Gülecer and marketing officer Karin Ferenbach presented the range of services offered by the machining specialist, particularly in the area of manufacturing and surface finishing of micro-parts for catheter technology, at the David Intercontinental Hotel. Between the lectures and during the lunch break, the participants had ample opportunity for talks at the company booths in the foyers. Along the Technology Parade, numerous start-up companies demonstrated the power of innovation in the Israeli start-up scene in the medical sector. Thanks to new interesting contacts in the local scene and beyond, the two Klingel representatives were able to finish the two-day congress on a positive note.

Successful presentation at Medical technology Ireland

Key account manager Murat Gülecer was satisfied with the successful participation of Klingel medical metal at the trade fair Medical Technology Ireland in Galway. The machining specialist presented itself to the numerous professionals visiting the trade fair with a booth in the pavilion of sales partner David Schnur Associates on the ground floor of the Galway Racecourse Center again. The precision technology company from Pforzheim showed the full range of its value-added chain and was thus able to make interesting contacts and obtain enquiries from one of the hot spots in the medical sector.

Trainee CSI

Trainees started the new training year with a team event

Which investigator team will solve a mysterious murder case? Who will find the right trail and crucial clues to catch the culprit? Who will even be able to deceive the competing investigator teams or to extract important information from them?
At the start of the new training year 2019/20, the trainees from all four years of the two sister companies Klingel medical metal and Josef Ganter Feinmechanik took on the role of crime scene investigators.  In an exciting form of geocaching, the teams followed the clues of their GPS devices to find boxes hidden throughout a vast area, which contained puzzles and clues that helped solve the murder case.

After the mystery adventure, the participants of the team event could take some refreshments in a nearby restaurant.

Klingel medical metal is currently training 22 young men to become cutting machine operators (3.5 years) or as specialists in metal technology (2 years). Josef Ganter has five junior staff members receiving vocational training, spread over three years. Interested parties can already apply for the new training class, which will start in September 2020.

Start of vocational training with Klingel

Four new apprentices are starting their professional life

On September 2, four young adults started their training as cutting machine operators and a specialists in metal technology at Klingel medical metal in Pforzheim. Head of vocational training Patrick Gauss (right) welcomed the new trainees at the start of their first year of vocational training and introduced them to the training workshop as well as the various production departments in the three plants in the industrial area “Altgefäll”. They will pass through all of them in succession in the following years of training. In the first week of training, the focus is on getting to know each other and learning about everyday life in the company. This includes a team event with all four trainee classes, in which they have to complete various tasks in groups.

What is new is that in the future, the best trainees of the third-year class will have the opportunity to visit the two Swiss partner companies Gehring Cut, Matzingen, and Bächler Feintech, Hölstein, in a 14-day exchange. These companies provide vocational training as polymechanics; together with their supervisors, the polymechanics trainees will give their German colleagues insight into their future professional life on site.

We wish our new colleagues a good start in their vocational training.

Employee summer party 2019

On Friday, 5 July, the management of Klingel medical metal GmbH invited all employees to celebrate yet another summer party in the courtyard of plant II.

With ample supply of food and drinks from a bar car and barbecue car and the salad bar in the festival tent, the guests could “take a load off” after their work was done. DJ Thomas Freygang provided musical entertainment.

The management had a special surprise for all participants this time. As a small thank you for their work on the particularly hot days in June, everyone received a straw hat and sunglasses with the company logo.

A special thanks to all helpers preparing everything as well as setting up and taking everything back down under the supervision of Nicole Gräßle and Rolf Knorr.

Honouring of employees celebrating their anniversaries at the summer party

Within the framework of the summer party of this year, the following employees were honoured by the management for their many years of company service:

Thomas Freygang (left) and Arthur Busik (right) each for 25 years and Tanja Anhölcher (not in the photo) for ten years. As a sign of appreciation, managing director Ralf Petrawitz (middle) handed out gift baskets full of great goodies to the employees having a company anniversary, amid the applause of their present colleagues. We congratulate our loyal employees and wish them many more wonderful years to enjoy in the Klingel team.

Klingel team racing at the B2Run again

Great performance at the 5.3 kilometres run through the Karlsruhe Schlosspark

With five runners – including two trainees – Klingel medical metal took part in the B2Run in Karlsruhe for the second time on 4 July. Despite a strong field of runners with more than 9,200 participants from some 450 companies, the team achieved rank 383 of 500 mixed teams in the 5-person mixed ranking with a total running time of 2 h 27 min, with only the top five being included in the ranking. The fastest runner was Domenik Ruppert with 27:33 minutes. Before and after a run of 5.3 kilometres through the Schlosspark, everyone could enjoy the good and relaxed atmosphere, which was greatly helped by the perfect weather.  We congratulate our colleagues on the great performance and are already looking forward to the upcoming races next year to keep flying the flag for Klingel medical metal and to do something for our fitness at the same time.

KLINGEL acquires two Swiss medical technology companies

Precision in new dimensions

With the acquisition of two further medical technology companies in Switzerland, KLINGEL medical metal from Pforzheim is once again increasing its capacities and expanding its production and service portfolio in the medical technology market: In December 2018, the specialist for metal precision in medical technology acquired Gehring Cut AG based in Matzingen, Canton of Thurgau, a contractor for the manufacture of surgical instruments and tools for orthopaedics and trauma, and in March 2019, it acquired Bächler Feintech AG based in Hölstein, Canton of Basel Land, a contractor for the manufacture tools and surgical instruments for orthopaedics and dental technology. Josef Ganter Feinmechanik GmbH in Dauchingen has been part of Klingel medical metal group since 2015. This means that the production area across all four plants is increased to around 21,000 m² with over 600 employees.

Great team performance at the AOK company run

With a record turnout of 23 runners and walkers, Klingel medical metal's team has now taken part in the AOK company run in the Enzauenpark for the third time. Trainees Nico Keller, Ardit Maloku, Domenik Ruppert and Dennis Wormer also ventured the approximately five-kilometre-long route after work. Fortunately, the weather had changed in time, and it remained dry all day. A total of around 750 participants – including some with walking poles – took part in the run. After 23:26 minutes, Kevin Petsch was the first of the Klingel team to finish, closely followed by Kristijan Ozvalcic and Jens Broja. Of the Klingel women, Fatma Öteles was the fastest with 29:56 minutes, followed by Karin Ferenbach and Nadine Tournoy. In the team ranking, the fastest four Klingel men took the 28th place out of 70 teams, the fastest four Klingel women were 20th out of 48 teams. Our picture shows the Klingel team before starting and after the finish with medals all runners received. Thanks to all colleagues. We are looking forward to the next team sporting event.

Premiere for Klingel medical metal and Gehring Cut at the T4M in Stuttgart

Pforzheim, 15 May 2019. With around 250 exhibitors and 3000 visitors, the three-day trade fair T4M still has room for growth according to the conclusion drawn by the organizers and exhibitors. At the premiere of the new medical technology trade fair at the Stuttgart site from 7 to 9 May, the sister companies Klingel medical metal and Gehring Cut were also represented under the umbrella of the Klingel medical metal group at the joint booth of Wirtschaft und Stadtmarketing (WSP) Pforzheim for the first time. After a somewhat slower first day of the trade fair, the visitor frequency at the joint booth and also at the two co-exhibitors Klingel medical metal and Gehring Cut noticeably increased on the two following days. Students from the universities in Stuttgart and Pforzheim informed themselves in detail about the member companies of the Pforzheim cluster "Hochform" and their medical application fields and innovative power during their trade fair tour. In addition, promising contacts were made with manufacturers of implants, instruments and tools for orthopaedics and surgical procedures, on which the sales managers of Klingel medical metal and Gehring Cut are now following up.

Final project for the first-year trainee class 2018/19

Congratulations and thanks to all involved!

One-piece ratchet as eye-catcher at the IDS

Pforzheim, 19 March 2019. The increasing number of visitors from abroad also became noticeable at the booth of Klingel medical metal and Josef Ganter Feinmechanik in Hall 4.1. at this year's IDS in Cologne. Visitors from the Eastern European and Arab region in particular made inquiries about the torque ratchets and the manufacturing of new prosthetic parts and implant systems. A hologram projection of the new one-piece torque ratchet by Josef Ganter was a great eye-catcher above the exhibition booth, and we also received actual orders for it, especially for the gold-plated version.

Congratulations on the successful completion of vocational training

Successful trade fair appearance in the German Pavilion

For the first time under the umbrella of the German Pavilion, Klingel medical metal was in attendance as an exhibiting company at the Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) West in Anaheim/California from 5 to 7 February 2019. This was the second there was a joint German booth funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the Ausstellungs- und Messe-Ausschuss der Deutschen Wirtschaft e.V. [Association of the German Trade Fair Industry] (AUMA) at the largest American trade fair for medical technology suppliers, with twelve exhibitors from the medical technology sector in total.

“Get close and personal” with traineeship opportunities and the professions they lead to

7,000 visitors came to the vocational training and education fair, “Beruf aktuell”, to inform themselves about the possibilities for their future

There was a great crowd of people interested in vocational training in the Pforzheim convention centre on Saturday, 2 February 2019, for the trade fair “Beruf aktuell”. Countless young people, some in the company of their families, crowded and squeezed into the large hall and the adjacent rooms. Among the more than 200 exhibitors, Klingel medical metal was again in attendance with an attractive booth and the most recent information. Those who were interested were able to obtain first-hand information about the professions “cutting machine operator" and “specialist for metal technology”, which require vocational training.

The head of vocational training, Patrick Gauss, and two trainees as well as colleagues from the human resources department were there to answer the prospective new trainees’ questions. Currently, 22 trainees are undergoing vocational training with Klingel. If you are still looking for a traineeship for 2019 or are already looking for 2020, please feel free to contact us at bewerben@klingel-med.de . Furthermore, applications for our vacancies are also welcome at any time if you are interested in one of them.

Donation to children’s hospice

Klingel employees donate the proceeds from the Christmas raffle to “Sterneninsel”

It was with great joy that the “Sterneninsel” received the donations of the Klingel employees. The latter had donated a certain amount for each winning ticket for their participation in the Christmas raffle. Tinka Barth from the human resources department handed the collected €279 to Simone Hochmuth during their visit to the hospice service for children and adolescents.

The full-time and volunteer employees of the “Sterneninsel" offer free support and companionship to families in which a child or a parent is terminally ill and also accompany the families after their death to support them in their grief. Without the many donations, such great work would not be possible to this extent. As a small thank you, Tinka Barth, as the representative of the donors, received a handmade angel.

Anniversaries and goodbyes

As part of the company’s Christmas party in this year on 7 December, some employees were honoured for their many years in the company’s employment. We had to say goodbye to some employees who have reached retirement age. They, too, were honoured for their many years of dedicated service with a lot of applause and a gift basket.

Our picture shows (from the left) the honourees Gerhard Bayer (retiring after 18 years with the company), Karl Busch (retiring after 12 years), Günter Biehlmeier (retiring after 30 years) and Alexander Grauberger (celebrating his 30th year with us) together with managing director Ralf Petrawitz (in the centre of the picture). The picture does not show the honourees Waldemar Schimpf who is retiring after 15 years with the company, and Wolfgang Haug who is retiring after eight years. A special award was presented to Herwig Haller, who has not taken a single sick day since 2005.

Interesting professional discussions at the ICI meeting

After its great début in the last year, Klingel medical metal was once again in attendance at the ICI-Meeting in Tel Aviv as an exhibiting company. The two-day professional forum in the David Intercontinental Convention Center was once again an ideal place to make new contacts in the Israeli medical technology sector.

In addition to the well-known large medical technology groups and their development departments, there are also many young companies looking for experienced and reliable suppliers for their new and further developments. As Klingel medical metal has already successfully produced components for cardiovascular systems of well-known manufacturers and showed this at its booth, there was plenty to talk about and many interesting discussions ensued. If nothing else, the growth potential of the medical technology sector in Israel and the scientific standard of the talks and lectures once again highlighted the significance of this congress.

A successful re-entry for Klingel medical metal at COMPAMED

The two major leading trade fairs in medical technology from 12 to 15 November in Düsseldorf reported about 120,000 trade visitors. 5,273 exhibitors from 66 countries and more than 80 percent international participation meant that MEDICA achieved new top results. With 783 exhibitors from 40 countries, COMPAMED, with a focus on the medical suppliers market, seamlessly achieved similar top results.

Increasing our presence in the US market: Klingel attends MD&M Minneapolis again

As in the previous year, Klingel medical metal was present at the MD&M in Minneapolis, which is one of the largest international trade fairs for medical components, devices and equipment. On both days of the trade fair, on 31 October and 1 November, more than 600 exhibitors as well as about 5,500 visitors in total were counted. Klingel was able to establish a number of new contacts in the American medical sector. They included the fields of endoscopy, cardiovascular systems, 3D printing and micro implants.

Maintaining contact with important target markets at the Medical Technology Ireland

For the second time, Klingel medical metal took part in the Medical Technology Ireland trade fair in Galway. The OEM manufacturer had already been among the exhibitors back in September 2017, when the trade fair opened its gates for the first time. Within only two years, the Medical Technology Ireland has developed into the second biggest trade fair in Europe. 200 exhibitors and 1200 visitors came to the Galway Racecourse on 27 and 28 September to exchange views about the latest trends and possibilities in manufacturing. The exhibition area was extended, and Klingel medical metal had the ideal spot on the ground floor of the building to present itself in the pavilion of its sales partner David Schnur Associates to benefit from all synergies and to intensify the co-operation with Ireland, the UK and Israel. The precision technology company from Pforzheim showed the full range of its value-added chain and was thus able to make interesting contacts and obtain enquiries from the high-tech medical sector. The applications range from cardiological feeding systems and robot-assisted systems to minimally invasive procedures.

Testing our mettle at the AOK run in Pforzheim

For the second time, a team of runners of Klingel medical metal participated in the AOK company run in the Enzauenpark. This year, nine employees, including two trainees, took part and ran the distance of about 5.5 km successfully in a good time. The late summer day was warm and dry, and the starting shot could be fired at 6 p.m. sharp. In total, about 600 participants were in the field, in some cases also with walking poles. In the team ranking, the men placed 36 of 62 teams, and the women placed 27 of 40 teams. Our picture shows the Klingel team after the finish with the medals all runners received.

Exciting search for clues at the trainee team event of 2018

Our trainee team event at the start of the vocational training year was once again a very special experience. 19 trainees from all three years of vocational training went on a journey into a world full of exciting puzzles and mysterious secrets. Their journey was taken in the “Escape Room” in Pforzheim, where they had to tackle a variety of missions and solve tasks together. Picking locks and decoding ciphers – which you can see in our picture – were only two of these challenges. However, they only had one hour to achieve their goal in both rooms.

Mayor Boch and business development liaison Müller make an informational visit

Impressed by the capability and new construction project in Altgefäll – securing the manufacturing location and more jobs

Pforzheim, 24 July 2018. Together with the business development liaison Reiner Müller, mayor Peter Boch visited Klingel medical metal in Altgefäll. After an exchange on current developments in the town of goldsmiths and the high precision technology prevalent there, it was time for a visit to the construction site for the expansion of the company. Together with the company HPM, a new building is to be constructed until the end of 2019 adjacent to the present three industrial buildings. With this project, Klingel medical metal will expand the current 9,500 m² by about 6,500 m², which it will use for further growth.

Our picture shows from the left: Ira Jacob (head of human resources of Klingel medical metal GmbH), Dr Frank Müller (managing director of the HMP Group), Peter Boch (mayor of the city of Pforzheim), Ralf Petrawitz (managing partner of Klingel medical metal GmbH), Reiner Müller (business development liaison for Pforzheim), Christoph Lenze (managing partner of Klingel medical metal GmbH), Markus Peterek (managing director of Pfirmann Industriebau).

The ready-to-use construction of this large-scale project is also carried out by a company from Pforzheim. Together with the principal, the company “Pfirmann Industriebau” developed a concept sustainably ensuring that the production site will remain in this place. The planning of a multi-story manufacturing building enabled the floor area resources to be utilized in a consciously sparing manner, and the available areas were optimally used. You can read more about this in the reports in the Pforzheimer Zeitung and in the Pforzheimer Kurier, or you can watch our video https://player.vimeo.com/video/272903109

JobRad as an incentive for a change to muscle power

Employees of Klingel medical metal can also benefit from the “JobRad” programme offered by their employer

Pforzheim, June 2018. Those who have been playing with the idea of buying a new e-bike for some time can now go ahead with this with the support of their employer, and thereby enjoy favourable leasing fees. Since 2012, the company car benefit also includes bicycles, and many companies pass this on to their employees via a “JobRad” programme.

Trainee project “Trike”

Our eight trainees in the first year of vocational training again faced the challenge of coming up with a project made up of metal parts that had been processed in various ways. You can see the result here – our 2018 trike parade!

Interesting contacts to the founder scene at the ICI Meeting in Israel

The ICI Meeting in Israel proved to be a “market of opportunities” for Klingel medical metal also. For the first time, the machining specialist appeared at this forum for medical technology on 4 and 5 December in the David Convention Center in Tel Aviv. In addition to interesting expert lectures with a focus on cardiovascular technologies and procedures, there was also ample time for discussions at the company booths in the foyers. The 30-some exhibitors and more than 2,000 visitors also included the who’s who of the scene, and also some start-ups which perfectly highlighted the innovative power of the Israeli founder scene in the medical sector. “We could feel a clear interest in prototyping, and we are already in negotiations with new customers,”, said managing director Christoph Lenze with visible satisfaction after the two days he spent at the trade fair booth.

Positive response on the MD&M Minneapolis

For the first time, Klingel medical metal was present at MD&M in Minneapolis with its own booth. MD&M is an international trade fair for medical components, devices and equipment. Due to the wide range of products presented and depth and its accompanying lecture programme, this event is seen as an information and communication platform for decision makers in this sector to exchange opinions with experts. It provides a space where both exhibitors and visitors make new business contacts or unlock new fields of business. On the two days of the trade fair on 8 and 9 November, more than 600 exhibitors and some 5500 visitors from the field were counted in total. Managing director Christoph Lenze was extremely satisfied with the feedback in the end. “There were also some concrete inquiries for us as an OEM manufacturer”, he took stock.

Good specialist discussions and lecture at the Innovation Symposium

Klingel medical metal’s first time attending the Swiss Medtech Expo in Lucern was also highly professional and successful.  On 19 and 20 September, the precision engineering company appeared on the Swiss medical technology fair together with Josef Ganter Feinmechanik, its subsidiary from Dauchingen.

Some 1600 professional attendees were given an overview of how innovation is created by new designs, materials, technologies and processes not only from the 170 exhibitors in total. Rather, the 36 lectures at the Innovation Symposium also enriched the exchange between the experts. Klingel medical metal contributed a presentation on the topic of “innovative surfaces”. In his 15-minute talk, managing director Christoph Lenze explained the special characteristics of electropolishing when it comes to smooth, hygienically perfect surfaces for medical components.

"The Swiss market stands for high precision and quality and can look back on a long and successful history in medical technology. We already have good existing partnerships and currently also some promising new contacts with Swiss companies working in medical technology that we want to deepen and expand”, said Lenze about their participation in Swiss MedTech.
